WWD JAPAN

After the reopening of almost all retail stores from June 2021, the fashion industry faced numerous uncertainties and challenges such as infection risks, sluggish consumption, employment and wage concerns, and delays in digital transformation. Based on a survey of 1,093 people working in the industry and 63 fashion retail companies, we attempted to reveal the essence of these anxieties in the cover design for the special feature "The True Nature of Uncertainty Enveloping the Fashion Industry | WWD JAPAN Vol. 2142."

The survey collected candid voices from workers regarding their anxieties about "employment," "salary," "work style," and other issues, providing thought-provoking content. At the same time, the magazine also presents strategies to address these challenges and move towards the future, with insights from strategic consultant Takashi Kawai and McKinsey's Naoyuki Iwatani. We considered how to visually represent the content of such articles on the cover.
